Where do you ride your bike then? At the velodrome? If you're using it for transportation and there's no dedicated bike lane the street is the safest place to be.

This gif had to do with someone being an idiot. People do the same in cars, and sometimes die for their troubles.

Edit: of course, if you're advocating for a dramatic increase in investment in dedicated bicycle infrastructure in right there with you.
