[Pyrex] pyrex "versus?" cython

Hi all,

I've been a grateful Pyrex user for years, but now have a project which
has succumbed to the seductive lures of Cython and its features.

I'm wondering what actual roadblocks might be presently barring the
ultimate merging of Pyrex and Cython, and if there's any way these
barriers might be surmounted or dissolved.

Are the barriers based on technical direction? Programming tastes? Egos?
Differing goals? Something else?

I'd be grateful for people's thoughts on this.
